Okay, here we go. I know some of you may have been prisoner to my FaceBook rant about auto insurance and I am sorry for you contant message updates as the point was debated. I do not claim to be a smart man and dont have all the answers for sure. I do however have a weekness for old four wheeldrives in need of a good home and some TLC, and because of this I have accumilated quite a collection. I love them all dearly and for that I know my sanity is in question to start with. The problem comes in when I have to insure all the vehicles in order to drive them. This financial problem has raised a question in my........uh.....wallet. Why do we insure all the vehicles in our drive way when we are only able to drive one at a time, while the others are safely tucked away at home. When we apply for auto insurance they what to see our drivers licence, our driving record and for some reason (another rant all together) our credit history. If they are insuring the driver, why must we pay a premium on every vehicle. I understand that with safety ratings some vehicles will be less costly than others, in that case we could work out an average, of all the vehicles and pay a monthly average.
For example, if you owned 2 cars and the monthly premium would be $30, and $60, then your monthly premium would be $45 a month for the vehicles that you own.
I understand the amount of money that insurance companies spend on lobbying in Washington so insurance reform will never happen, but it would be a fair system for the vehicles you own and drive. I also understand the system would need tweeking, maybe a minimal monthy charge for vehicles that maybe damaged in hail storms at home that your not driving at the moment. Just something to think about that would help blue collar purse strings.

The smell of hypocrisie!!
Below are a few articles I have cut from different sources that make me laugh at Al Gore as he speaks of conserving energy. (yes I am poking fun by typing in GREEN!)
The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization committed to achieving a freer, more prosperous Tennessee through free market policy solutions, issued a press release late Monday:
Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.
Gore’s mansion, [20-room, eight-bathroom] located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).
In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.
The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.
Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.
Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.
Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.
“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.
On Friday, after giving a stirring speech about global warming, saving the planet, bad George Bush, Katrina, etc., the former Vice President, who was subjected to massive FReeper verbal abuse in 2000 with "GET OUT OF CHENEY'S HOUSE", actually walked out of the Moscone Center, looked at the display of hybrid vehicles, and got into a Cadillac Escalade.
There was some question as to whether Gore had control of the vehicle chosen or whether it might have been a Secret Service requirement for his protection at a crowded event. I made calls today and left messages at the field offices in Los Angeles and Washington D.C. I don't know which office returned the call, but I got the answer.
The agent told me that Al Gore is a private citizen. He would have had Secret Service protection for no longer than six months after his time as VP.
DemocRATS sometimes make it so easy to mock them. Gore is the featured speaking at a major Sierra Club event in a major green left wing city. He arrives at the event and leaves the event in one of the biggest vehicles on the planet. Just amazing.
For good measure, Arianna Huffington departed in a gas guzzling Chevy Suburban after her speech on Sunday.
Jeez there is so much of this stuff out there coming from credible sources, such as Larry King Live, USA today, Business week, so on and so on. This guy makes it to easy to bag on him. It seems that Mr Gore is not at all conserned with the Global Warming thing, its the money he makes from it, which apparently he needs to pay his freaking utility bill. Probably add more to this later, it is pretty fun digging this stuff up. Sorry Liz I am sure you are a big Clinton/Gore fan.

NEAR MARJAH, Afghanistan – U.S. Marines fired smoke rounds Wednesday and armored vehicles maneuvered close to Taliban positions to test insurgent defenses ahead of an anticipated attack on the biggest militant-controlled town in southern Afghanistan.
A NATO spokesman in Brussels called on Taliban militants holding Marjah to surrender. But a Taliban spokesman boasted that the militants were prepared to "sacrifice their lives" to defend the town against the biggest NATO-Afghan offensive of the eight-year war.
The date for the main attack by thousands of Marines and Afghan soldiers has not been announced for security reasons. However preparations have accelerated in recent days, and it appeared the assault would come soon.
I am not a military genius, don't plan big assaults nor do I plan to, but I have serious doubt about this strategy. So now we are giving warning to the enemy that we are going to attack them in the near future. We probe them and then release statements to the news media that we were just testing there defenses for an up coming attack. What happened to the surprise attack, I am having a hard time with this. We are already in an area that we are not familiar with, the locals aren't real keen on us being there and now a third strike against us, we let them know we are planning an attack. Whats the big deal right? We have the most advanced military in the world, what are we worried about. These people are not the usual enemies, like the Taliban spokesman said, they are ready to sacrifice their lives, lets not give them time to prepare their IED's and ambushes of our armoured convoys by announcing we are coming. I will be praying for our soilders in the weeks to come, I fear this will turn out........not as good as we would hope. God be with those troops.

My Vote for Governor has CHANGED!!
Medina's message includes some pretty drastic changes to state laws because she says private property ownership, and gun ownership are the essential elements of freedom.
"In Texas, we don't own anything because we pay these exorbitant property taxes," she explained. "So protect property by eliminating property tax in Texas.
Medina also says Texans should be able to open carry and not "have to jump through a bunch of hoops."
Debra Medina is looking pretty good to me now. She was a longshot when she entered the race with Rick Perry and Kay Bailey, but with talk like this she has risen to 24% in the poles. I am a big supporter of Open Carry in the State of Texas. The same Concealed Carry course could still be required for persons open carrying to weed out the people who shouldn't or couldn't be trusted. Along with the 8 hour course and shooting portion of the course there is also a background check of each applicant that is done by the FBI. This requires 2 passport pics and two sets of fingerprints and $140. I feel that all of these things are a good idea, some kind of control should be set forth to protect us from those who don't need to carry a weapon, period. I will be following this issue closely in the months to come as well as the property tax issue.

400 New Reports of Toyota Tacoma Sudden Acceleration Since February
Posted: Jun. 11, 2008 10:06 a.m.
The Detroit Free Press reports, "Some 431 customers from around the country have reported unintended or sudden acceleration in their Toyota Tacoma pickups, resulting in 51 crashes and 12 injuries, but the automaker said there are no flaws in the trucks and that many reports were 'inspired by publicity.'"
When we last reported on this issue in February, government investigators had received only about 30 complaints.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating claims of sudden accelerating in 2004 - 2008 model year Tacomas since February, and is "still weighing whether to upgrade the investigation" to a more formal status. The Free Press notes that "no pickup model other than the Tacoma has garnered more than a few complaints of unexpected acceleration to the NHTSA during the same period."

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
For more than 10 years, owners of certain Toyota models have complained that their vehicles have accelerated suddenly and unintentionally. 2,262 incidents involving unintended acceleration of Toyota vehicles have been recorded since 1999. These incidents led to 815 separate crashes resulting in 19 deaths and 341 injuries.
In addressing the issue, Toyota has always maintained that improperly installed floor mats or poor floor mat design were to blame. In September 2007, Toyota recalled 55,000 2007 and 2008 Camry and Lexus ES models for floor mat interference. That small recall represented the extent of their efforts to correct the acceleration problems.

Conservative media, USA Today promote idea of Obama administration conspiracy against Toyota
February 04, 2010 2:59 pm ET — 36 Comments
Conservative media outlets, as well as a USA Today blogger, have suggested or asserted that the Obama administration is forcing the recall of millions of Toyota vehicles for safety issues regarding reports of sudden unintended acceleration in order to denigrate the company, benefit unions, and boost sales of vehicles manufactured by General Motors and Chrysler, which the federal government bailed out last year. In fact, sudden acceleration in Toyota vehicles has reportedly been an issue as early as 1999, and Toyota has stated that its recall was voluntary.

Who benefits the most from Toyota being drug through the mud? General Motors, United Auto Workers Union, or the Obama administration? They are all partners now in the multi-billion dollar auto industry. The US Government and United Auto Workers Union owns 89% of General Motors. Aside from that the UAW has stake in Ford and in Dodge, who does the UAW not represent? If you guessed Toyota you are exactly right.
I bet right now conspiracy theory is not sounding so crazy. Most of us could not even dream up such a thing, if our neighbor has a great job and makes lots of money, we on the most part are happy they are comfortable, and hope to get to swim in their really nice pool from time to time. So why does the Obama administration wish so badly to pee in Toyota's pool? Toyota has surpassed Ford and General Motors in world wide sales. This had to steam the big three in Detroit, not to mention the UAW who have been locked out of the Toyota facility.
So.....if you wanted to knock the big kid on the block down, but he was bigger that you (Ford, Dodge, GM) what would you do? You would call the bigger kid on the block to do it for you. I am not implying that Ford is involved directly, but they will benefit from it as will their UAW employees.
You have seen in the articles above that I cut and pasted to start off this blog that these problems with Toyota vehicles had surfaced first in 1999, they have been trying to address the problem and it is documented in service reports and customer complaints. Toyota has not been hiding this problem from the public, nor have they been screaming it from the top of the corporate building, what company would. Toyota has never come under fire for these defects in the past because they were attempting to find the reason as well as a fix, their reputation as having an outstanding product is evidence of the fact. The Obama administration has everything to gain from pressing this issue, as well as their partners in the auto industry. The thing that bugs me the most is the Obama administration is trying to make this seem like they discovered this new problem and now that they have they are gonna hold Toyota......their competition.......feet to the fire.
Where does this stop, when the government gets into the private sector and is competing among other business, this is not a level playing field for the private sector. Why you ask? If you own a lemon aid stand, and the government has one on the other side of the street what is to keep them from taxing your side of the street more steeply than their side. Or impose a high fee for picking or importing your lemons. How could this ever come to pass? What is going on right now with health care? If the government gets into health care how can the private insurance companies compete with their own tax dollars they pay from your insurance premiums.
I guess what I am trying to say, is over the years we have seen several defects in auto manufactures, GM with the exploding saddle tanks on 81-87 Chevy trucks, Ford with the exploding rear fuel tank in the Crown Victoria's (who can forget all the police officers that were burnt from rear impacts) I do not remember the same firestorm (forgive the pun) with those manufactures in a situation that was just as serious. Whats different from then and now? think about it.

Vick doesn't deserve a TV show!!!

Michael Vick, the former Atlanta Falcons star quarterback convicted of killing dogs for sport and profit, may not have gotten his old Nike contract back, but he is following the well-worn path of former child stars, celebrity heiresses and Z-list actors.Yes, Michael Vick has gotten his own reality TV show, which he describes as "a story of hope" for kids who may be "dealing with adversity," the LA Times reported Tuesday. Vick, who served 18 months in prison for running the notorious dog-fighting ring Bad Newz Kennels, is teaming up with BET for the new eight-part "docu-series," tentatively titled "The Michael Vick Project."
Ok, I am writing this blog as my Jack Russel, Katie lays in my lap.........It burns me up that Micheal Vick is able to do these things to animals and still be able to profit from it by having a reality show. Articles say he lost 100 million dollars by being caught and serving 18 months in prison. I say he didn't lose enough. His on production company is working with BET to put on this reality show. He is reported to profit $20 million dollars from the 10 episode series.
He took a trip to his seized property in Virgina, you know the one that had all the out buildings painted black so people couldn't see them at night while the fights were taking place. He walked past the graves of the dogs that he electrocuted, hung, and drowned for not performing well in these fights. He told cameras he couldn't believe he had done these things to all those dogs. Of course he would say that, he is trying to sway public opinion in his favor. Then to add insult to injury he had the nerve to say he wanted to stop but didn't know how to stop it. Uh hello dude......its your property, your dogs, your money, if you wanted to stop it you could have at any time, idiot!!!
I would have given the loser a little.....just a little bit of slack if he would have stopped the torture and fighting himself without doing it because he got caught. Wait he didn't stop because he got caught, he stopped because all the dogs were seized, his property was seized and he was finally detained by Federal Marshall's and sentenced to the maximum sentence of 23 months because of his unwillingness to cooperate with authorities.
Sorry......Sorry......Sorry, dude if you were sorry your 20 million would be going to Best Friends Animal Society, or some of the other groups that took in those poor dogs. Best Friends actually did a really good job rehabbing those dogs, they were so willing to be loved and love in return. Ok Chance don't get mushy here, back to Vick. If he were truly sorry he would be making every effort to help the organizations that take in dogs, give them care and find homes for them. He would be better served helping these organizations through donations of money and his time than making some "feel sorry for me reality show" that he and his promotion company are gonna profit from. I sure as the heat from the media gets hotter he will start releasing statements about donating the proceeds to these organizations...........
I for one am not buying this load of.......well you know what its a load of. If you are so black hearted that you can torture an animal who just want to be loved, I would be hard pressed to believe you were sorry now, other than sorry for loosing millions of dollars. Michael Vick, I am sorry, I am sorry that you didn't receive more time in prison, I am sorry you were even aloud back into the NFL, I am sorry that people would even give you the time of day much less a reality show. Ok so I have my first rant out of the way and hope it came across well. Sorry for the horrible pics of those poor animals, but it helps make a point.
Wood Working
This is my second attempt at woodworking, I built out entertainment center also, I will show it later. I am most proud of this kitchen cabinet I built for LeeAnn for Christmas. We wanted an old look, I used knotted white pine for every thing but the doors and used yellow pine for the doors, its a harder wood and is easier to get square. I never thought I would be able to pull this off and it turn out so good. I learned some things and will apply them to the next cabinet I build. Why you ask, why build it instead of buying one? (1) I had a specific idea in my head and wanted exactly want I wanted. (2) My wife and I are much more fond of this cabinet than one would could have bought that wasn't what we wanted. (3) I am cheap.......lol......I have about $120 dollars in this cabinet and a couple fun days with my Dad building it. And the excitement of my wife when we brought it in the house on Christmas day.
Ok I know I am supposed to be blogging about politics and stuff but I saw a friends desk on her blog and it turned out really good, so I thought I would post the cabinet I made for my wife.

For real?
Ok this is my first ever blog, dont know if I completely understand the process so I hope this isn't to messed up. I have so much to talk about I dont even know where to start. I must first apologize for miss spells and typo's. I work for a company (AT&T) that works mostly in abbreviated words and letters for entire sentences, for example, (ETIR) this mean cust has trouble Every Time It Rains. Or (CCOAP) this is Cant Call Out All Phones. So you can understand I am probably a leg up on most teenage kids who text all day, we shorten sentences in to four or five letter characters. All that to say this if my sentences and word placement are of forgive me I am submersed in a world of letters and phrases.
